As my kids and their young friends have grown up and become aware of their world, they tell me how worried they are.

They believe they are inheriting all our problems but not the resources to deal with them. Looking at the human and economic costs of the pandemic, automation and artificial intelligence transforming jobs, the long road to social justice, and the arrival of climate change and its consequences, I can’t blame them for being worried.

I am running because I want to make sure our economy and social fabric are strong enough that we have the resources to support and protect the people of Ontario, today AND tomorrow.

The Issues

Housing  and
Cost of Living
Lack of housing, at all levels, is still a critical issue and a huge part of the high cost of living. It undermines the social safety net in Kingston and hurts our ability to attract talent and good businesses to Kingston. Ted has rolled up his sleeves to look for solutions locally. He knows government needs to fund more affordable housing, and that Ontario crown land in Kingston should be released for housing.

Climate Crisis
Experience being a climate action leader in Kingston will help Ted lead Ontario in promoting a greener economy. Ontario will benefit from electric vehicles, energy retrofits for buildings, energy storage, and industry emissions cuts, as well as the training, regulations and infrastructure needed to make these happen.

Health and Wellness
Kingston residents must be able to find a local family doctor. Ted knows he must provide the political support called for in the 2020 Kingston Region Physician Review Report, to help solve this problem.

Government must fix long term care. Once urgent issues are addressed, we can build long-term solutions by introducing not-for-profit, community-based alternatives, stay-at-home supports, and by facilitating lifestyle changes for seniors.

Ted wants to support our new local Ontario Health Team as it coordinates local partners to not only deliver, but improve, services for health and wellness.

Strong Economy
Helping businesses create productive jobs is a priority. Ted has what it takes to support Kingston and Ontario's economy -- he has extensive experience in, and enjoys the challenges of business, finance, and workforce development.

Education and Childcare
Education and childcare are a proven investments and are central to Kingston's economy.  In today’s fast-moving world, education is a necessity to meet the changing demands of life, work, and citizenship. Ted wants to help Ontario build education and childcare programs that create life-long learners and community members who are ready to face the future.
